Yes. 30 December is Rizal Day, a regular holiday every year, and in 2026 it falls on a Wednesday. It is one of five holidays packed into the last weeks of December, and they are not all paid the same way.
- 30 December, Rizal Day: regular holiday. 100% if not worked (for eligible employees), 200% if worked.
- 25 December, Christmas Day: regular holiday, paid the same way.
- 8, 24 and 31 December: special non-working days. No work, no pay; 130% if worked.

Who gets paid for Rizal Day without working
Pay for an unworked regular holiday goes to employees who were present, or on paid leave, on the working day just before it. For Rizal Day 2026, that is Tuesday, 29 December. An employee absent without pay that day loses the holiday pay, unless they work on the holiday itself.
Example: a guard on duty on Rizal Day
A security guard on a ₱755.00 daily rate works a ten-hour shift on 30 December. The first eight hours are paid at 200% and the two overtime hours at 260% of the hourly rate.
- First 8 hours at 200%
- ₱1,510.00
- 2 overtime hours at 260%
- ₱490.75
- Pay for the day
- ₱2,000.75
Hours between 10 PM and 6 AM add the 10% night shift differential on top.
Monthly-paid staff
A monthly salary computed on 365 days already pays every regular holiday, so nothing is added for an unworked Rizal Day. If a monthly-paid employee works on 30 December, add another 100% of their daily rate; on 24 or 31 December, another 30%.
Plan the December cutoffs early
The second December cutoff carries Christmas, Rizal Day and often the 13th month pay, which is due by 24 December. Settle the duty schedule and the 13th month amounts before the 20th so the payroll can close on time. See the 13th month pay rules, and for every other date of the year, Philippine holidays 2026.
